INFORMATION ABOUT OUR 2024 RETREAT
Located right off of Newburyport, MA we will be spending 3 nights on one of New England’s oceanfront treasures, Plum Island.
Participants will be staying in adjacent houses on Newbury Beach, so you can enjoy your morning coffee with toes dipped in the sand, or up on the deck with a bird’s eye view of the water. Each day will begin with a group run along the ocean, a mid-morning and afternoon workshop, and evening activity. Though there will be ample group activities throughout this retreat, we have sprinkled in free time for participants to choose from a variety of relaxation and exploration activities to do on their own or with others.
Who is this for?
This experience is designed for adult runners, looking to build connections through sharing nourishing miles and meals and creative and playful activities. Upon leaving this retreat we hope that each participant will have added new learnings to their movement toolbox, and feeling energized and connected to a network of individuals who love to run.

Run Coach Amanda is a 24-time marathoner, RRCA Level-1 Certified Run Coach, and founder of Wellness in Motion Run Coaching. As a coach and athlete, her motto has always been “Dream Big!” as this saying helped her achieve a BQ (2010) all the way to a OTQ (2:40) and 2x Olympic Trials races.
Amanda has been a Run Leader and Yoga Teacher at Wanderlust Yoga Festivals over the years, and it’s always been a dream to lead her own Running Retreat. Amanda and her husband recently purchased a summer home on Plum Island in 2022, so this will be an amazing opportunity for her to showcase this hidden gem of a running location to all of the retreat goers! Julia has been an avid long distance runner since high school. She ran her first half marathon on her 16th birthday and that sparked a deep passion for racing everything from the mile to marathon. Julia has run three marathons and qualified for the Boston Marathon. Any given day you'll find her logging miles along the Charles River, in the nearby trails or seeking out an uncharted run-venture in the streets of Boston.
Julia found yoga when she herniated two discs in her lower back during her junior year of high school. Coming back from this injury she found yoga to be a great source of healing and strength for her body and mind. She pursued teaching to guide people towards seeing yoga as a means to prevent injury and practice gratitude. Julia designs her classes to be fun, creative flows that focus on alignment, loosening and strengthening the muscles that support athletes' bodies. She has taught students from all ages and abilities - from high school and college athletes to those just dipping their toes into the yoga world for the first time. Julia completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Down Under Yoga in Brookline with Natasha Rizopoulos, and teaches classes around the Boston Area.

Growing up as a gymnast, Kat was lucky enough to have a mother that was a massage therapist. She learned at a young age how massage could help keep her body healthy and mobile so she could stay active in the movements and sports she loved.
Now as a runner, yoga instructor and lover of the outdoors, massage has remained a constant to keep her moving. Becoming a massage therapist had always been intriguing to her as a way to expand on her passion of helping others stay active. She decided to take the leap and studied at The Massage School in Boston.
Kat loves the WIMB/Running community and is excited to get to know her clients and learn how they love to move so she can tailor the massage to their needs. She focuses on deep tissue, mobility and sports massage techniques.

Danielle grew up in the food world – specifically the Italian restaurant her grandparents owned in Syracuse, NY. She spent countless hours helping my grandmother in the restaurant, and annoying all of the cooks. Danielle’s studies at Syracuse University led her to a career in Advertising, but in 2009 she left the Ad world for culinary school at Newbury College. Shortly thereafter Danielle joined the team at America’s Test Kitchen, first as a Photo Team Test Cook and then an Associate Editor for the Book Team. She contributed to 12 cookbooks including The How Can It Be Gluten Free Cookbook, The Quick Family Cookbook, and Foolproof Preserving. Danielle is now a freelance recipe developer and food writer who calls Brookline, MA home. When not in the kitchen, Danielle can be found running after her toddler or running with November Project, hiking, dancing and, of course, eating to fuel all of that activity. Danielle’s favorite food is still pizza, the first thing her grandfather ever taught her to make.

Cara has always had a passion for nutrition education. As a 10x marathoner, this passion has evolved to helping runners fuel their bodies properly. Cara’s philosophy is that nutrition is not one size fits all, which is why she believes individualized nutrition education is so important. Whether working with a new runner or seasoned marathoner, Cara loves helping individuals learn how to build balanced meals and fuel to optimize performance.
Cara received her BS in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and her MPH with a focus in nutrition from UMass Amherst. She has been a dietitian for over a decade specializing in diabetes education with additional experience and a passion for sports nutrition.
These days, most of her time is spent taking care of (and feeding) her twin toddlers and new baby, trying new recipes for the whole family and getting ready to train for another marathon.
